• 1837 - School established at St. John’s in the Wilderness - Flat Rock
• 1850 - School at Big Willow opened
• 1850 - School opened at Pleasant Hill
• 1869 - Land donated by Arnold Ficker for school in Valley Hill community
• 1908 - Valley Hill School established as Mrs. Dolly Morris (Beaumont Estates) gave a significant donation for renovations and classroom additions to Ficker School
• 1982 - Initial construction of Atkinson Elementary
• 1983 - Atkinson Elementary opened
