  • 1850 - School opened at Pleasant Hill
  • 1852 - Bunker Hill School opened
  • 1861 - French Broad Meeting House (school) opened
  • 1866 - Blue House School built in Dana (Blue Ridge Academy)
  • 1866 - Hopewell School on Eades Rd in Etowah opened
  • 1869 - Land donated by Arnold Ficker for school in Valley Hill community
  • 1870 - School on Gap Creek Road (Bobs Creek) and school named Double Springs opened in Green River
  • 1874 - Oak Forest School opened
  • 1876 - Adams Run School opened in Big Hungry
  • 1905 - One-room schoolhouse in Upward opened
  • 1907 - First school called Dana School built
  • 1908 - Valley Hill School established as Mrs. Dolly Morris (Beaumont Estates) gave a significant donation for renovations and classroom additions to Ficker School
  • 1908 - East Flat Rock School opened
  • 1909 - Mount Vernon (Dry Hill) School built 1837 - School established at St. John’s in the Wilderness - Flat Rock
  • 1916 - First Tuxedo School opened
  • 1923 - East Flat Rock School for Black Children built (a.k.a. Rosenwald School)
  • 1924 - New Tuxedo School built - (Burned in 1929)
  • 1925 - East Flat Rock School built
  • 1930 - Tuxedo School rebuilt
  • 1960 - Flat Rock Junior High opened - (Burned in 1971)
  • 1972 - Flat Rock Junior High rebuilt
