• 1800s - First school house in Hendersonville opened, Washington Street
• 1865 - Blythe Street School opened
• 1901 - Hendersonville Graded School System established
• 1901 - Hendersonville Graded School opened, in the former Judson College Building
• 1912 - New Hendersonville Graded School opened (a.k.a. Fourth Avenue School and Hendersonville Grammar School)
• 1916 - Sixth Avenue School for Black Children opened
• 1933 - Hendersonville Grammar School renamed Rosa Edwards School
• 1951 - New Ninth Avenue School for Black Children opened
• 1972 - Hendersonville Middle Grade School opened (grades 4, 5 and 6 - at current location)
• 1993 - Hendersonville Middle Grade School renamed Hendersonville Elementary School (grades K-6)
