• 1800s - First school house in Hendersonville opened, Washington Street
• 1865 - Blythe Street School opened
• 1901 - Hendersonville Graded School System established
• 1901 - Hendersonville Graded School opened in the former Judson College Building
• 1912 - New Hendersonville Graded School opened (a.k.a. Fourth Avenue School and Hendersonville Grammar School)
• 1916 - Sixth Avenue School for Black Children opened
• 1951 - New Ninth Avenue School for Black Children opened
• 1965 - Ninth Avenue School becomes Hendersonville Junior High
• 1993 - Hendersonville Junior High becomes Hendersonville Middle School
• 2004 - New building constructed
