Timeline

• 1870 - School on Gap Creek Road (Bobs Creek) and school named Double Springs opened in Green River
• 1876 - Adams Run School opened in Big Hungry
• 1905 - One-room schoolhouse in Upward opened
• 1922 - Second Upward School opened on site of present-day Upward Methodist Church
• 1993 - New Upward Elementary opened after consolidation with East Flat Rock Elementary and Tuxedo Elementary
